We are amazed by it.
Awed by it.
Made child-like by it.
Stressed about it.
This week we had 5 inches of snow in Nashville.
Ultimately, what a good winter storm does for a
family in the south is......it makes us stop.
Stop work.
Stop school.
Stop schedules.
I couldn't help but notice all the Facebook posts
about being snowed-in with family.
So much fun.......making chili, eating pancakes,
playing games together, relaxing, etc.
This morning Jill and I had a 2 and a half hour worship
service.....here.....snowed in. Fabulous.
The simple things...
Talking.
A good book.
Quiet time.
Why do we have to have an"excuse" to do all this?
Why don't we do this ALL THE TIME ??
Lord, thank you for the snow.....
....and all that came with it !

Empty Nest Again......
Well.....
It seems like this has happened to me a lot.
Or maybe it's just that I CRAVE having my kids at home.
I know.....my kids aren't kids anymore.
Wes is 28. Ash is 24.
And I always seem to have a few kids who become my own.
Ask Gretchen Hart.
Mallory and Bear Bear have been living with us for a
few months. I have awakened to the sound of "Boppers,
Time to get up !" almost every morning. Sharing my devotional
time with a 2 year old has been PRICELESS. In fact, he has
been a devotional all his own.
But, as has happened 2 other times (Or more if you include
Ang, Kristin, etc.) its time to say goodbye.
Empty again.
Just me and Jill McAlister who has been in this nest with
me for 33 years. Devo time won't be the same.
No Elmo chair.......No "Fix me some Choch-ett milk, Bopps."
I have learned a lot. I have benefitted richly.
On to the next.....and the next...and the next.
After all, its the way we do LIFE !
